π¬ Despicable Me 3 (2017) In Despicable Me 3, Gru (voiced by Steve Carell) returns with his lovable Minions for another hilarious adventure packed with family, friendship, and mischief. Directed by Pierre Coffin and Kyle Balda, this animated comedy introduces Gru to a new family memberβhis long-lost twin brother, Dru (also voiced by Carell), whoβs as charming and goofy as Gru is serious and disciplined.
After failing to capture Balthazar Bratt (Trey Parker), an eccentric former child star turned supervillain whoβs stuck in the β80s, Gru and his wife Lucy (Kristen Wiig) are fired from the Anti-Villain League. Just as Gru is adjusting to his new life, he learns about Dru, his wealthy, carefree brother who wants to reconnect. Dru, however, has his heart set on being a villain and persuades Gru to take on one last heist together. Meanwhile, the Minions, dissatisfied with Gru’s βretirementβ from villainy, go on their own chaotic journey, resulting in plenty of comedic mayhem.
As Gru and Dru team up against Bratt, their sibling bond is tested, bringing out the best (and funniest) in each other. Bratt, obsessed with revenge and armed with ’80s-themed gadgets and moves, proves to be a formidable and absurdly amusing foe, adding to the film’s over-the-top humor.
Packed with fast-paced action, heartfelt family moments, and Minionsβ signature slapstick antics, Despicable Me 3 brings laughter while highlighting the value of family and self-discovery. Gruβs journey reminds us that heroes and villains can change and that familyβeven a very unexpected oneβbrings out the best in us all. With catchy tunes, vibrant animation, and lovable characters, this film is an entertaining and feel-good addition to the Despicable Me series.
