(4/5)
The Protector 2, directed by Prachya Pinkaew and starring Tony Jaa, is a high-octane martial arts action film that brings viewers back into the world of Kham (Tony Jaa), a skilled fighter who will stop at nothing to protect his loved ones.
The sequel to the 2005 hit The Protector, it delivers even more bone-crunching action, brutal fight sequences, and jaw-dropping stunts that fans have come to expect from Tony Jaa.
The plot picks up with Kham’s relentless pursuit of his stolen elephant, which he considers a family member.
When his beloved elephant is taken again, Kham embarks on a dangerous mission to retrieve it, facing a new set of enemies along the way. As he battles through various underworld figures and corrupt individuals, Kham’s martial arts skills are pushed to the limit.

What sets The Protector 2 apart is its unapologetically brutal and realistic fight choreography. Tony Jaa once again proves his mastery with stunning, acrobatic fight sequences, blending Muay Thai, traditional martial arts, and his own signature moves. The film introduces a new villain, played by Ron Smoorenburg, creating a compelling, high-stakes rivalry.

While the story may not be the film’s strongest suit, The Protector 2 isn’t about plot twists or intricate dialogue—it’s all about the action. The jaw-dropping set pieces, especially the infamous “warehouse” fight scene, make it a must-watch for martial arts fans. The film delivers exactly what it promises: relentless action, spectacular stunts, and Tony Jaa’s electrifying performance.
