Need for Speed 2 (2025)

– Speed is back, more intense than ever

Need for Speed (NFS) is one of the most iconic racing game series in the history of gaming, published by Electronic Arts and currently developed by Criterion Games — the team behind the success of the Burnout series.

The series is notable for its illegal street racing theme, where players not only compete in various types of races but also have to escape from the police. This is one of EA’s oldest franchises (outside the EA Sports line) and also one of the most successful franchises of all time.

The first game, The Need for Speed, released in 1994, laid the foundation for a whole generation of speed enthusiasts. The most recent installment — Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered — was released on November 6, 2020, bringing a refreshed experience with upgraded graphics and classic gameplay. Additionally, the free-to-play mobile version Need for Speed: No Limits, released in 2015, was also a huge hit, developed by Firemonkeys Studios (the makers of Real Racing 3).
Over the past two decades, NFS has been developed by many famous studios such as EA Canada, EA Black Box, Slightly Mad Studios, Ghost Games, and each stage has brought a new color to the brand. With over 150 million copies sold worldwide, Need for Speed is more than just a game, it has become a cultural phenomenon — expanding into movies, Hot Wheels figures, and many other products.
And now, in 2025, Need for Speed 2 is revving its engines, promising to once again rock the streets and bend all limits on speed.
